Stemming from the horrific flood of 2002 the majority of the water systems in the Mullens-Wyco communities of Wyoming County West Virginia were either destroyed or damaged beyond repair.
Emergency funding was provided through the Department of Environmental Protection/Abandoned Mine Land Fund to provide immediate restoration of the Mullens Water Treatment Plant. While design and permitting were being executed, a temporary emergency water plant acted as the safe source for water in this area. The plant was designed and constructed within two years.
That being accomplished, the outlying communities that were also affected by this major flood event were brought into a design that would combine eleven substandard systems within a three mile radius of the new Mullens system. This portion of the project (Phase I) is now complete.
Phase II, which will provide line extensions for four more areas in the immediate vicinity, is scheduled to go to bid summer of 2009.
Pentree, Incorporated has provided preliminary engineering reports, studies, funding application assistance (both state and federal), preliminary and final design, mapping, property acquisition, permitting and regulatory approvals, bid and contract document preparation, bid evaluation, construction administration and project close out services.
